Event and House Assistant – Position Description


Basic Responsibilities

The Event and House Assistant provides administrative support for Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha staff. The position is closely involved with fundraising activities of RMHC. The Event and House Assistant is supervised by the Volunteer and Events Manager.


Summary of Duties

The duties of the Event and House Assistant include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide general administrative assistance to RMHC staff
  • Communicate with event attendees and sponsors
  • Assist with donor correspondence
  • Assist with auction reconciliation after events
  • Coordinate and collect sponsor donations and signage for events
  • Cultivate a Pop Tab community outreach program for schools and churches
  • Data entry for various programs
  • Assist in advancing and cultivating various RMHC programs as requested
  • Conduct donor research and track donor prospects
  • Compile donor packets and update donor materials
  • Prepare materials for Board of Directors meetings
  • Organize volunteer orientation for each event



A successful applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Have your own vehicle
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Be available to work evening and weekend hours
  • Have the ability to perform the physical demands of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation
  • Must have the scheduling flexibility to be available for a certain set of event dates every year, including events held on evenings and weekends


The ideal applicant will have the following additional qualifications:

  • Experience with data entry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable making fundraising and sponsorship cold calls
  • Public speaking experience and strong public speaking skills
  • Excellent research, organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Works well with a diverse group of constituencies
  • Flexible and self-motivated


Physical Demands of Position:

The physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods of time during events, sitting for extended periods of time and lifting up to 25 pounds.






Work Schedule and Wages

This is a part-time position. The position is non-exempt and an hourly wage will be set based on qualifications and experience.


The person holding this position will work approximately 20 hours per week, normally between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
