Job Description We are looking to hire a talented Database Administrator with solid experience with SQL, server builds, admin querying and clusters. The primary responsibilities for this position are to administer Microsoft, Sybase and MySQL database servers, monitor performance and troubleshoot system issues. Additional duties include database analysis, implementation and design, working with developers to optimize SQL code and performing upgrades of the database infrastructure. Salary: $105 - $110k + benefits. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer related field and/or equivalent job experience 3 years’ experience of database administration with Microsoft SQL Server. 3 years’ experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 or higher. Good knowledge of Active Directory and Kerberos authentication Working knowledge of SAN technologies Ability to be at work on a regular and predictable basis Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks Ability to pay close attention to detail Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner Ability to work in a team environment Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting Ability to analyze problems and identify alternative solutions Clear written and verbal communication skills Position Duties/Tasks This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following: Perform all duties associated with database administration with 24x7 on-call support and perform configuration tuning as necessary for the Production, Test, and Development platforms Design and document standard system installations and integration. Ensures that any previous documentation is updated with new changes Ensure that all supported systems are highly reliable, secure, and performing at acceptable levels. Performs root cause analysis of outages and ensures they are repaired Review any new O/S and database server patches or releases that would improve performance or are recommended by the vendor Continually enhance alarming and system monitoring for database servers Assist in the research, development and deployment of new technologies and multi-vendor integration. Assist in ordering, planning, and creating integration plans for installing new hardware or software on a project by project basis Provide security analysis and implementation Design, implement and maintain a consistent backup and disaster recovery plan Ensure timely and effective delivery of projects Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new infrastructure that has a database endpoint Assist in developing an ongoing security strategy Provide strategic design, enhancement, and troubleshooting for all database servers Develop database maintenance standards and procedures Perform projects and tasks assigned by the Manager of System Engineering Note: This employer is unable to extend visa sponsorship now or in the future.
