Job Description
This clinic has developed an efficient system where dental assistants are fully trained and utilized to the maximum in the clinical setting. The system is in place to reduce stress and allow for procedures to flow. Various meetings and manuals will be presented and it is expected that such materials will be learned and implemented while in probation/training period. Therefore, candidates with no previous dental experience or no previous endodontic experience are welcome .
: Dental Assisting experience not required. We will train on the job
:A pleasant and caring attitude is required to treat patients (pts) that are in pain.
:Due to the emergency nature of endodontics, a flexible schedule is required.
:The quality of being detail oriented and organized is a must. Endodontics requires extreme attention to detail, organization and the ability to anticipate multiple up:coming actions and consequences of possible actions.
:Excellent written and verbal communication is critical. The ability to speak, write and type in a professional manner is necessary. (English must be at or above that of a high school graduate level)
: Ability to follow through with tasks, stay focused and complete in an efficient manner.

Duties of the Day:
:Throughout the day, exceptional customer service and comforting the patients is expected
:Report to the office on time for opening duties
:Turn on all necessary equipment and prepare for patients
:Greet pt. and interview pt., recording data into electronic record
:Take endodontic PA radiograph(s)
:Interpret information from interview, radiograph, referral slip, and medical history to succinctly and coherently present the case to the Dr.
:Print or call in recommended prescriptions
:Explain an overview of Pts treatment and answer questions related to treatment (pre:operative instructions)
:Accurately chart the findings of the exam and the notes for the procedure, while assisting the exam and procedure
:Prepare a letter for the referring Dr. using templates in the computer
:Pass instruments at the appropriate time, while suctioning and maintaining a visible field in the oral cavity
:Dismiss patients in such a manner that the pt. will understand all instructions and any further care that may be indicated (post:operative instructions)
:Change room and sterilize instruments quickly, safely, and without damage to equipment
:The chart and letter for referring Dr. should be briefly reviewed to ensure accuracy and completeness same day

Other Tasks:
:In addition to the aforementioned tasks of a typical day, the dental assistant is required to be cross:trained and as such should be able to answer the phone, schedule appointments, verify insurance information and collect fee for services rendered among other front office responsibilities.
:Surgeries are performed and assistants should be comfortable in a surgical environment.
:If emergencies occur, the assistant should remain calm and administer aid as necessary. This requires knowledge of handling office emergencies.
:The assistant is responsible for understanding and maintaining all back office equipment, including but not limited to: Zeiss microscope and Sony video camera, System B, Hot:shot, Obtura, DTC, Piezo electric P5, Sybron rotary handpieces, Statim, autoclave, ultrasonic, triturator, curing light, and towel warmer.
:All supplies should remain well stocked.
:Infection control must not be violated.
:Careful communication with the front staff is used to avoid any confusion. (ie. the schedule, treatment
performed/necessary, prescriptions, etc.)
:Patients will be checked on and their status will be documented in the record.
:Office staff will participate in marketing of the office to ensure that the office remains productive.
