Position Overview
The Portable Tack Truck Operator will be responsible for operating the Tack Truck, Self:Propelled broom, and labor duties. These duties should be carried out in a safe and effective manner under the supervision and direction of the portable paving superintendent and foreman.:/h1:Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):/h3:
:Operate asphalt tack truck and maintain refill, quantity measurement, inventory and refueling duties
:Operate several types of asphalt paving equipment including; rollers, broom and skid steer when tack operation is complete
:Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
:The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
:Performs general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
:Assists other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of vehicles.
:Perform daily pre and post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
:Assist in training less:experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing and repair of equipment to further their abilities.
:Perform general laboring duties when necessary.
:Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
:Maintain an accurate and timely driver log.
:Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications :/h3:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
:Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
:3:5 years operating tack truck.
:Must maintain a CDL A or CDL B license.
Work Requirements
:Must be 18 years in age or older.
:Must pass pre:employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
:Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
:Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co:workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
:Must maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements.
:Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
:Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
:Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
:Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
:Adhere to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations as set forth by the US DOT.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
:Able to identify, define, and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions independently.
