Position Overview The Religion Teacher designs and delivers a balanced program of instruction around the Catholic and Protestant Religions and coordinate Boys Towns Annual Christian Service Events. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, OR SKILLS Bachelor's degree from an accredited school. Must have previous Religious Education background and be familiar with experiential learning techniques and knowledgeable with issues facing at-risk youth. Prior parish, church, or religious education experience. Properly endorsed and certificated. Understanding and belief in the Boys Town Mission and an ability to connect the religious and faith Components taught in the classroom to the skills being taught in the Family Home Program. Ability to deliver instruction in an effective and efficient manner. Knowledge of Protestant systems and religions, including basic principles, values, ethics, ways of thinking, customs, practices, and impact on human culture. Ability to maintain a high level of professional competence via in-service education, self-selected professional education, and curriculum development. Ability to demonstrate a commitment to the use of a behavioral approach to motivate student learning. Ability to demonstrate concern and respect for individual students and a commitment to and ability to work with youth who have special academic, spiritual, and emotional needs.
