The Role
As a Long Term Disability Claims Specialist, you will have the overall responsibility for managing increasingly complex long:term disability claims in an ethical manner, ensuring quality decisions, accurate time calculations, and proactive communication with claimants and employers. You will be expected to deliver a very high level of consultative customer service. In addition, you will enable less experienced team members to perform his/her assignments.

Responsibilities

Claims
:Maintains knowledge on current and emerging developments/trends for assigned area(s) or responsibility, assess the impact, and collaborates with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions.
:Promotes and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives within assigned area(s) of responsibility.
:Performs and delivers on routine assignments/projects while simultaneously leveraging and applying knowledge of his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
:Identifies and communicates to management process improvements that reduce workloads or improve quality for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.

Customer Service
:Analyzes and processes claims by investigating, gathering and obtaining information to make claim determinations.
:Conducts interviews with external stakeholders (e.g. physicians, claimants, and/or lawyers) on standard claims.
:Negotiates settlement of claims up to designated authority level and makes claims payments.
:Analyzes claimants coverage contracts to determine payment eligibility is met.
:Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding claim eligibility determinations to management.
:Collaborates with appropriate internal stakeholders to determine claim eligibility.

Requirements

Education
:4 Year/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelors) in Business or Finance

Experience
:3 : 5+ years of experience in LTD insurance claims that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
:1+ years of insurance policy contracts experience
:Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
:A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
:Possesses a bias for action and avoids workplace distractions
:Drives performance targets to completion
