**Foundation Development Coordinator**
The main purpose of the Development Officer is to raise money for CHI Health and develop relationships with donors and potential donors. The Development Officer will be responsible for the strategic execution and management of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to maximize philanthropic support, as well as build a base of loyal and consistent donor support for the CHI Health Foundation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, coordination and monitoring all annual development activities in cooperation with Foundations senior management and development officers. Activities to include planning, creating and managing Grateful Patient, Philanthropy at Work ,direct mail acquisition and renewal; annual board/council, employee and physician campaigns, donor recognition, donor stewardship and other special projects. Under the direction of the Div. Vice President of Philanthropy, collaborates in planning, creating and preparing materials and analyzing financial and demographic data.
CHI Health is a not-for-profit umbrella corporation providing governance, administrative management and direction to all operations of Bergan Mercy Health System (sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives) and Immanuel Medical Center (Immanuel Health Systems). These two health systems have consolidated operations while maintaining separate religious identities, financial assets and medical staffs.
Consolidated operations include: five medium-sized metropolitan hospitals located in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area; three rural hospitals located in Missouri Valley and Corning, Iowa and in Schuyler, Nebraska; two long-term and sub-acute care facilities located in Omaha; one ambulatory services facility at Lakeside in Omaha; home care programs serving the region; multiple metropolitan and rural health care clinics/offices; major programmatic initiatives in managed care, physical medicine and rehabilitation, behavioral health, senior services, cardiovascular services, orthopedics, women s and children s services, and oncology; and joint ventures with community partners in pediatrics and hospice.
The incumbent reports directly to the Div. VP Philanthropy and works collaboratively with the presidents of the respective hospitals, charitable councils, development officers and other members of the Foundation staff. Position requires writing and marketing coordination, frequent personal contact with donors, prospects, personnel from other departments, medical staff, and the general public. Involves some evenings and weekends.
+ Collaborates with Div. VP Philanthropy to initiate and implement a comprehensive and strategic annual fundraising plan to meet the income goals of each annual fund activity.
+ Manage personal solicitation fundraising and strategies for Annual Giving and major donors.
+ Develops and implements annual communications to educate and involve appropriate internal and external constituencies including coordination of all case statements for the Foundation highlighting available charitable giving opportunities.
+ Assists with the planning and implementation of all direct mail appeals, integrating social media channels for the Foundation fundraising activities
+ Prepares and monitors annual giving operating budget.
+ Collaborates with the Foundation office to plan annual donor stewardship events and coordinates appropriate donor signage.
+ Maintains ethical standards promulgated by the, Association of Fundraising Professionals, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and Catholic Health Initiatives related to resource development.
+ Maintains a professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patients and other hospital information.
+ Keeps apprised of successful fundraising initiatives in healthcare philanthropy that can be successfully incorporated into the Foundations annual giving program.
+ Minimum three years demonstrated experience in initializing and developing relationships with donors that lead to support for CHI Health s mission.
+ Major gift fund-raising experience with a complex not-for-profit organization or related sales experience for a for-profit organization involving a significant number of people and organizations with diverse and varied interests and backgrounds preferred.
+ Experience working with volunteers.
+ Results-oriented and proved track record in establishing and achieving ambitious goals.
+ An understanding of the role and importance of a mission based health care institution.
+ Superior ability to establish donor relationships, confidence in self and institution.
+ Professional demeanor and appearance.
Bachelors Degree Required.
+ Evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Superior interpersonal, strategic and analytical skills.
+ Strong leadership, organization and motivation abilities.
+ Proven negotiation and mediation skills.
+ Ability to set and meet realistic deadlines and ability to manage detail-oriented projects.
+ Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Officer computer applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, desktop publishing, internet and email.
+ Proven ability to be self-motivated, organized and able to operate autonomously and in a directed team effort.
+ Enthusiasm for, and understanding of, building positive external relations.
+ Ability to gain and hold confidence of diverse groups of stakeholders.
