Job Summary/Essential Duties\: * Performs a comprehensive assessment of the patient during a preliminary visit or upon admission to the outpatient department utilizing the assessment parameters to prepare an individualized plan of care. * Plans and implements an individualized, age specific, intra-operative plan of patient care based upon preoperative patient assessments found on the patientâEUR(TM)s chart, as well as pre-op assessments made during an interview conducted with the patient and/or significant other. * Instructs and/or preoperatively teaches the patient/family/significant other concerning the surgical procedure and post-op expectations. * Reviews the patientâEUR(TM)s chart for required documentation for the surgical procedure. * Develops a plan of care based upon assessment data that anticipates both patient and family needs. * Involves the patient, the family and other health care personnel in the plan of care. * Implements nursing care activities identified in the plan of care a physician orders in accordance with unit policies/procedures. * Evaluates the plan of care throughout the pre/post-operative phases of care and modifies the plan as needed. * Assesses patient status with patient/family input and identifies age-appropriate patient care needs/problems that includes bio-physical, psycho-social, spiritual, environment, self-care, and educational needs and will serve to focus the provision of nursing care at admission, transfer, and discharge. * Plans individualized age appropriate evidence-based patient care through an interdisciplinary team approach and through interdisciplinary patient care conference, ongoing patient assessments, re-evaluation of patient problems or needs. * Utilizes professional skills and judgment in prescribing, delegating and coordinating the plan of care; includes appropriate resources to manage patient care path/Care Maps/variances. Administers medications and treatments according to nursing policy. * Guides and directs professional and nonprofessional personnel in the delivery of patient care, evaluates patient care effectiveness, modifies the plan of care according to age appropriate patient nursing policy. Utilizes care paths/Care Maps to develop and modify the patient's plan of care. Monitors variances and takes action on these variances. * Provides the following nursing services\: Independent; Inter-dependent; Delegated. * Identifies patient/significant other learning needs and initiates and provides for age appropriate education. * Responds to patient calls, anticipates individual patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance, and other appropriate safety measures. * Demonstrates the ability to perform in an accurate and precise manner in crisis and emergency situations. Demonstrates effective management of rapidly changing situations. Hours\: day/evening rotation with call on nights, weekends and holidays. Qualification: QUALIFICATIONS\: Experience Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience preferred. Education/Licensure Required\: Completion of a Registered Nurse program in an accredited institution required. Current RN licensure in the State of Nebraska or the State of Iowa. Nebraska and Iowa are compact states so you must be licensed in the state of residence. BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following\: American Red Cross\: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute\: CPR, PRO, must say âEURoeProfessional Level-with AEDâEUR, and American Heart Association\: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. ACLS or ACLS instructor certification is required within 6 months of hire.
